The Scandi Barn Diaries: Part 3

scandi barn toowoomba

It’s been a while since we posted about the Scandi barn shed that we constructed for a local client in Highfields, Toowoomba.

As a recap, check out the Scandi Barn Diaries Part 1 here, and Part 2 here that documented different stages in the shed build. There was a lot to like about this shed as it was coming together, so it was awesome to revisit the site with a photographer and get some imagery of the finished product.

We’ve been getting a few enquiries about Scandi barns in recent months. It seems the word is out about this style of shed and more people are realising what a winner it is! If you’re new to the concept, a Scandi Barn is a kind of modern farmhouse designed with strong elements of Nordic minimalism. Combining tradition and modernity, they’re striking to look at and comfortable to be in.

I want to take a look at how this particular shed turned out below, and highlight some of the features that really stand out for me.

A Toowoomba Scandi Barn

The Bold Facade

It’s simple, but striking. Clean, modern lines make up the facade of this Nordic-inspired shed, which incorporates exposed brick elements that complement the COLORBOND® cladding perfectly. The centralised roller door is a nice design touch too.

The Prominent Roof

A steeply pitched, triangular roof is a tell-tale sign of a Scandi barn, and it’s one of the standout features of this Toowoomba shed. It gives a dramatic look and creates plenty of internal space, allowing for soaring ceilings or even the addition of a mezzanine.

Multiple Roller Doors

There’s a second roller door added on one side of the shed, in addition to the main door at the front. This will provide a whole new level of functionality. We always choose local suppliers for our shed components, with our roller doors coming from the legendary Steel-Line manufacturers.

Rear Verandah

This flat-roofed add-on works really well because the owner also opted to install wide glass sliding doors. Whatever you use the shed for, it will have that indoor-outdoor feel that we cherish in Australia. At Stockman Sheds we can custom design your doors and windows exactly how you want them. Chat with a member of our team if you ever have questions about that.

Windows for Natural Light

Another common feature of a Scandi style shed is masses of natural light flooding the interior. The combination of the glass door and the large windows you can see in the image here keep the interiors of this shed light filled and airy. By the way, all our windows come from Bradnams, who are tried and trusted local suppliers of exceptionally high quality goods.

I hope you’ve enjoyed watching the progress of this shed in Highfields. We’re stoked with how it’s turned out, and most importantly for us, the owners are too. All our sheds are custom-designed in consultation with the customer, so hit us with your shed ideas and your vision for your backyard or plot, and we’ll help turn them into a reality. You can talk to me or Dave on 0493 791 972 or start the ball rolling on a quote here. Chat soon, and I’ll leave you with another image of this Toowoomba Scandi barn. Cheers, Ryan.
