Ashmore Shed Part 1: A Modern American Barn

Our Gold Coast shed builder has been involved in some awesome projects recently. One that we’ve really enjoyed watching progress is this Ashmore shed built in a modern American barn style. 

What is an American Barn?

This is a style of shed that’s really catching on around Australia, and it’s easy to see why. Americans tend to do things ‘big’, and in shed terms we feel bigger is better! There’s more space to work with, which means more storage room and a higher capacity for machinery and operations. 

American barn sheds have a distinctive three-door design, effectively incorporating three sheds into one. The largest bay is in the centre, usually with a gabled roof, which is the case in this Gold Coast shed. This is flanked by a bay on either side, giving the whole shed a lovely symmetrical look.

The three access points on the shed add to its versatility. Combined with the super high ceilings of the middle bay, it becomes appealing to farmers or other businesses using tall machinery that needs a secure storage space. The design looks great too, which is why it’s catching on as an option for residential sheds.

An Ashmore American Barn

The bulk of the work is done on this American barn shed in Ashmore, so we thought we’d share a few pics with you. Built with Bluescope Steel and COLORBOND® materials to withstand the harsh Gold Coast weather, this is a durable and robust shed that will serve its owners well for decades to come. Our Gold Coast concretor has done a great job on the extended slab, and panel lift doors will be added in the next month or so. You can see some images of the inside of the shed here.
